The Friday Five, 3/14/24: 5 things I've been up to this week

This week has been super busy; the weekend will also be, but I should have time to sit and relax a bit as well.

What I've been up to this week:

  1. Doctors appointments. I had one yesterday and I have my annual physical today. The one yesterday was very quick but they took bloodwork, which I wasn't expecting, and I'm pretty sure I have to do bloodwork today too ... and I had my Crohn's infusion last Saturday ... so for those of you keeping count, that's three (bloodwork) pokes in one week. Yay.
  2. Seeing Peter Pan at the Fox. On Tuesday, myself and three friends went to the Fox in Detroit to see Peter Pan. Oddly, I have never seen the musical, although I've seen most movie iterations of the show, and probably have read the book before. The musical was a bit chaotic/action-packed, for lack of a better description, but overall I liked it. I'll be at the Fox until Sunday, and you can read more info at my blog post.
  3. Seeing Kimberly Akimbo at the Fisher. The next day, my mom and I went to the Fisher to see Kimberly Akimbo, which was also a first-time viewing for me. I liked this musical a lot more than I thought I would, and it had some great messages and a good story. It will be at the Fisher until March 23rd, and I highly recommend seeing it; find out more here.
  4. Dining out/getting takeout. On Saturday, after my infusion, I stopped by the Popeye's in Southfield for takeout, because I had a coupon ($21.99 for ten chicken tenders, five biscuits, and two large sides—not a bad deal). However, they were making fresh tenders at the time, so they told me to pull to the side ... and 15 minutes later I finally got our food. On Sunday, I had Hungry Howie's takeout with my parents, and on Monday, I was in Ann Arbor (see below as to why), and a friend and I got Madras Masala delivery, which was excellent. On Tuesday, my friends and I went to Bigalora in Southfield before Peter Pan, which was really good; I hadn't been there in a long time. On Wednesday, my mom and I went to Panera for dinner before Kimberly Akimbo, and today, the same Peter Pan friends and I are meeting up for lunch at Buddy's.
  5. Work site visit to Zingerman's Bakehouse. On Monday, I headed to Zingerman's Bakehouse in Ann Arbor for work—we had done a story on their Candy Manufactory, which makes their candy bars, and I was invited to check out the Bakehouse. The Bakehouse, Creamery, and Candy Manufactory/coffee shop are all in one little industrial area in Ann Arbor—technically Pittsfield Township—and I had never been. They make all of their breads, pastries, etc. on site and I got to see it firsthand, which was fun. I stopped by the Creamery afterwards and picked up some really good Swiss and aged cheddar, too, and I also went to the Candy Manufactory and purchased a few Zingerman's candy bars; they sell other premium chocolate brands there too like Venchi, etc.
