The first week of February has gone by pretty fast. I'm headed to the office for my once-per-month day there soon, but not a fan of the fact that it's 14 degrees out right now ...

AYCE chicken meal at Zehnder's, Frankenmuth |
What I've been up to this week:
- Frankenmuth for Snowfest. Last Friday, my husband and I played hooky from work (aka, we both put in for time off, lol) and went to Snowfest, which is a favorite of ours. Snowfest is (unsurprisingly) primarily snow sculptures, but they also have ice sculptures. We had lunch at Prost, my favorite charcuterie/wine bar there, then also went to the Fudge Kitchen, Cheese Haus, and a few other shops, like the board game shop at the outdoor mall there. We finished up with dinner at Zehnder's, and because it was still January 31st, I had my free AYCE (all-you-can-eat) chicken meal on my Zehnder's card for my birthday. If you haven't been there (or Bavarian Inn) for their AYCE meal, and you like fried chicken, I highly recommend it.
- Dining out/getting takeout. Like I said above, in Frankenmuth we headed to Prost and later Zehnder's, which are two of my faves. On Sunday, I met a friend for lunch at Pickles and Rye Deli, in West Bloomfield, which was my first time there; it was very good, and I had two latkes (potato pancakes) and kreplach soup. Sunday night, my husband and I hung out with my parents and we had Hungry Howie's takeout, and on Tuesday, I had dinner at La Marsa (also WB) with a friend before seeing Clue at the Fisher (more on that below). Finally, last night we got Doordash delivery from Big Dip Burgers, in Walled Lake, which was pretty good, although their cheese curds are not as good as Sidecar Slider Bar's, IMO.
- Seeing Clue at the Fisher. On Tuesday, a friend and I headed to the Fisher Theater to see Clue, which is playing there until this Sunday, February 9. Confession, I have never seen the movie Clue, but I like the game a lot; I feel like I need to see the movie after seeing this. Overall the play was really fun, and it clocks in at only 1.5 hours, also (vs. most of their musicals, which are 2.5 hours), and I recommend seeing it.
- Watching movies. I saw Den of Thieves 2: Pantera at the Riviera Theater on Wednesday, which was my first time at that theater. The theater is owned by Emagine but apparently has gone through a few iterations before getting to that point. It has recliners, and they were HEATED, which was awesome (although honestly I'm surprised I did not fall asleep, haha, since I'm always tired, and recliners themselves usually do that to me). I'd give the movie itself 3.5/5; I saw the original when it came out in January/February 2018, and I gave that one 4/5 stars apparently.
I also watched Kinda Pregnant, the new Amy Schumer movie, on Netflix yesterday, and I have no idea what to rate it, because it was such an odd film, lol. I'd probably settle on maybe 2.5/5 stars. There were some scenes I feel like would NEVER happen in real life, because they were so awkward, but Schumer's romance with Will Forte's character was very cute. I'd say it's worth checking out but only if you don't mind some SUPER awkward/ridiculous scenes. - Watching TV shows. My only new show this week was Glitter and Greed, on Prime, which is the Lisa Frank story. I grew up in the '90s and loved all of the Lisa Frank folders, accessories, etc., and so I had this on my list to watch, but for some reason thought it was a movie; it's actually a 4-part documentary series on Prime. I *also* did not know that Lisa Frank is from Bloomfield Hills, and went to Cranbrook, which was random. I only watched one of the four episodes so far but am looking forward to watching more soon.
