The Friday Five, 1/10/24: 5 things I've been up to this week
This week has gone by slowly, probably because it was my first week back at work in two weeks, and my birthday is Monday, although it doesn't feel like it, for some reason. We leave for Mexico on Thursday for a wedding and I'm excited to get out of the Michigan cold and snow.

What I've been up to this week:
- Doing DoorDash/dining in. On Saturday, my husband and I tried out DoorDash from Siegel's Deli, in Commerce Twp., because I had been craving latkes for a while. Theirs were huge and legit, and I also got some kreplach soup ($11; bit overpriced for the portion). The latkes were $3.90 each though and worth it, as they are ginormous. On Tuesday, I saw Six at the Fisher with a friend (more about that below) and we went to Crispelli's in West Bloomfield ahead of time, which is always tasty; we split a wild mushroom pizza and a margherita pizza. Their pizza is always delicious but the margherita one is my all-time favorite. On Wednesday, my husband and I were craving Indian food so we got delivery from Mamaeatz, in Farmington—they have a deal where you get four small sandwiches for $25, which isn't bad, and we got butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka masala, and butter paneer, I believe.
- Seeing Six at the Fisher. A friend and I saw this on Tuesday—the last time it was in town was May 2023, and I had a work trip, so I was unable to go. I have a bit of a cold this week but masked up because I really wanted to see it. It was REALLY good—it's about Henry the 8th's wives, but told in rock concert form, basically. It will be at the Fisher until Sunday the 12th, and you can find more info at my blog post here. I do advise buying tickets early for whatever show you want to see, because I think most are sold out (opening night was!).
- Watching the Golden Globes. Everyone keeps saying Nikki Glaser "killed it" as host but I actually thought she was just okay. I was surprised Wicked didn't win more awards—I believe the only award it won was for Best Cinematic/Box Office—and I'm wondering if the Oscars are going to trend that way too. Emilia Perez won a bunch of awards, and I really liked that one, on Netflix. I also started watching Baby Reindeer, also Netflix, since it had won a lot too, and it was REALLY good; I binged it in two days this week.
- Watching TV shows. Like I mentioned earlier, I started Baby Reindeer on Tuesday, I think, and finished it Wednesday—it has half-hour episodes and it's very easy to binge. I must have overlooked it when it came out in April, but it was really, really good, so I highly recommend it. A lot of my shows were back this week, including Married at First Sight, High Potential, The Sex Lives of College Girls, and Abbott Elementary. I also suspect that my CBS/Paramount+ shows are back this week too, including Elsbeth, Matlock, and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. The Way Home (Hallmark Channel) just released one episode in their new season this week, too, and that's a good show also. I also started Selling the City (Netflix), which is made by the Selling Sunset people, and it's good but not as good as Sunset.
- Cooking. I had HelloFresh this week, and on Monday I made a potstickers with fried rice meal, which was pretty easy because they sent a package of potstickers. Last night we made a pesto fettucine meal with ricotta and toast, which was decent—probably 3.5/5 from me—and the remaining meal, which I'm thinking we will make tonight, because of the snow, or tomorrow night, is a soy-glazed steak with zucchini stir-fry, which looks good.
