The Friday Five, 11/22/24: 5 things I've been up to this week

I think this is the first 5-day work week I've had in a few weeks, because of Houston and Louisville, and next week will also be shorter because of the holiday (three days).

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Eating out/getting takeout. Last Friday, I was working at my office (I'm required to go in once per month) so I got Sidecar Slider Bar takeout, my favorite—my husband and I get DoorDash often from the Farmington location—and I also stopped by Paris Baguette to get a full-size cake and some other goodies, as they had invited my magazine in to take photos of them. On Saturday, I had a girls' night/games night (see below) and we ordered Basil Babe via delivery, which I had been wanting to try for a while and had not, since they're in Ypsi (see pic above); it was very good. And on Sunday, I saw my parents, and we had Hungry Howie's takeout.
  2. Watching movies. On Wednesday, I used my MoviePass to see A Real Pain at the theater, and it was okay; I had been hearing raving reviews about it, and it's the second directorial effort from Jesse Eisenberg, who also starts in it. I unfortunately fell asleep for about 1/3 of it (not the movie's fault; it's the theater's recliners and me being tired!) but I'd give it a soft 3.5/5 based on what I saw. I will definitely catch up on what I missed when it comes to streaming. His directorial debut was called When You Finish Saving the World, and is streaming for free on Prime for members, so I watched that yesterday and it was actually very good—it came out in 2022 and has Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) in it, but somehow I had missed it. I'd give that one 4-4.5/5 stars, and it's worth seeing. I'm seeing more movies on Sunday and Wednesday next week—Gladiator 2 in EMAX at Emagine Novi, thanks to T-Mobile Tuesday's $5 off deal this week, and Wicked with my husband and two friends on Wednesday. It's definitely prime movie season!
  3. Girls' night/games night. A friend and I drove to Ann Arbor on Saturday night to have a games night with another girlfriend and one of her friends, whom I hadn't met before. I hadn't seen my two friends in a bit—they were two of the four who attended my bachelorette party in Traverse City in July—and one of them was also one of my bridesmaids, which was probably the last time we hung out, if you can call that hanging out, haha! It was nice to play some games, too, we played Uno Flip, Monopoly Deal, and a few others.
  4. Playing the new Super Mario game. Last Friday, my husband and two of our friends played Super Mario Party Jamboree (online; they live in Cincinnati), which is the newest Super Mario Party game. It was slightly different than the other one I have played before and a lot of fun.
  5. Seeing the doctor. Last Sunday I started getting a really tight/hurt feeling in my ribs area. I finally got to see my doctor yesterday, and she says it's costochondritis, which according to Google is "a benign inflammation of the cartilage that connects your ribs to your breastbone, causing chest pain." It hurts more when I sit down, and since I am sitting most of the day to work/eat/etc., it's been hurting a lot this week, so I hope with meds it gets better soon.
  6. Going through boxes. I forgot to mention this one, but I've been going through boxes I moved over from my condo, and I found the pic below, along with some old pictures from it from 1999/2000 ... my Polaroid iZone camera, which I really loved when I used to use it. It's basically a Polaroid but it was geared towards kids, and the film for it came out mini-sized (photos were probably 2x2 inches or maybe 1x1) and it was sticky on the back, so I had stuck a few photos to some cardstock and left it in the bag with the camera. I wonder if they still make film for this one, or even Polaroid film? (willing to guess not, but there are alternatives, like the Fujifilm Instax, which I also have)
