The Friday Five, 8/23/24: 5 things I've been up to this week

This has been a busy week, and the weekend will be busy too: my mom and I are driving to Ann Arbor tomorrow to pick up my wedding dress (from the seamstress) and then my fiance and I are hosting a small, locals-only wedding shower at his house.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Dining out/getting takeout. Last Friday, my fiance and I went to Ale Mary's after getting our rings cleaned at Metals in Time, in Royal Oak, where we bought them. Ale Mary's is always good, and they usually have a deal on Groupon that I snagged, too: $11 for two vegan milkshakes (they're generally $11-14 each). On Saturday, we went to the Witch's Hat to meet one of my friends (more on that below), and Sunday I visited UNO for my Instagram. On Tuesday, I picked up Noori, in Clawson, for my fiance and I, for a quick dinner before the Lindsey Stirling concert; Noori is always delicious, I get the combo meal which includes four (gigantic) boneless Korean fried chicken wings, plus a side of your choice (+$1 for the potstickers I get), and a can of soda.
  2. Lindsey Stirling at Freedom Hill. This was definitely the highlight of my week, as I'm a huge Lindsey Stirling fan; this is the 7th time I've seen her (Michigan Theatre; Fox Theatre; Stranahan, in Toledo; Freedom Hill, in 2021; Centennial Quarry, also in Toledo, last summer; Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, in Dec. 2023; and this time). She always puts on a fabulous show, and this time was no exception. The only negative of the night was that instead of going in the 16 Mile entrance, as I usually do, I decided to trust Google Maps, and it wanted us to go down a bike path, near Schoenherr Rd, lol ... eventually we figured that out and so we missed the first opener, but we still say Walk Off the Earth (2nd opener) which was pretty good.
  3. UNO influencer visit. On Sunday, I visited UNO at the Delta hotel, in Farmington Hills, as an invited influencer. Their pizza is always good, and we also tried their (new, I believe) boneless wings, plus their Caesar salad, and a pretty delicious brownie (in their cast-iron!) topped with ice cream, for dessert. See the reel here on my IG page.
  4. Fury for a Feast, at Witch's Hat. On Saturday, my fiance and I went to "the Hat," aka Witch's Hat Brewery in South Lyon, for a music fest they were doing, plus the debut of some of their new beers for this year. We met up with a friend who lives in South Lyon, and her boyfriend, and overall it was a good time, if a bit loud. The Verve Pipe was playing at 9pm, and I didn't think I'd be there until 9 but we were ... we ended up leaving right before they started playing though, because it ended up being more like 9:30pm, and we were both tired by that point.
  5. Cleaning the house. Because we are having about 36 adults, and 10 children over this weekend, and it needed a cleaning. There is still more to do today, too, so I am going to work until 2pm and then start my weekend a little early.
