Movie Review and GIVEAWAY: Twisters {ends 8/27}
*Disclosure: I received a digital copy of the movie in exchange for this post. The opinions expressed here, however, are my own.
I saw Twisters in the theater recently, and I really enjoyed it—to prep, I watched the original Twister ahead of time, from 1996, which was also very good (I had seen it before, but not recently).
Twisters is now available to buy or rent on digital, and two of my lucky readers will win a digital code for the movie!

The "hard-hitting disaster spectacle" (Impulse Gamer) has earned a Certified Fresh designation on Rotten Tomatoes and an A- CinemaScore, becoming the best opening ever for a disaster film. TWISTERS brings back the blockbuster disaster epic with a whirlwind of heart-stopping action and exhilarating thrills. Ever since a devastating tornado encounter, Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones) gave up chasing storms across the Oklahoma prairie to safely study them on screens in New York City. Lured back to the field by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) and a once-in-a-lifetime scientific opportunity, Kate crosses paths with Tyler (Glen Powell), a charming daredevil and self-proclaimed tornado wrangler whose thirst for tornado-tracking adventures made him a social media sensation. As storm season intensifies with terrifying phenomena unlike anything seen before, Kate and Tyler realize they may need to work together if they are to have any chance of taming, and surviving, an unprecedented outbreak of destructive tornados.
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), TWISTERS stars Glen Powell (Anyone But You, Top Gun: Maverick) alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where The Crawdads Sing, Fresh). The breathtaking thriller also features David Corenswet (Pearl, “The Politician”), Anthony Ramos (In The Heights, Hamilton), and Brandon Perea (Nope).

My review:
I overall really liked this film—it's a great summer "popcorn" movie, and the cast meshes well together, especially the chemistry between Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell. It pays homage to the original movie in parts, but stands on its own as well. I will say the special effects were not as great as I was hoping for—the original movie had awesome special effects, especially for a movie from 1996—but they are still fine overall.
The music in the movie was also really good (mostly country music, I believe) and meshed well with the film.
I'd give this film 4/5 stars—it's worth seeing, especially if you can buy/rent it to watch at home.
