The Friday Five, 4/10/20: 5 things I've been up to this week

Congrats kids, we've made it to the end of week 4 of quarantine ... and we are going to be here a while, as Governor Whitmer just announced that we are quarantined until the end of April (4/30, to be exact). Yay.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Same stuff as last week, mostly, including cooking. I had an EveryPlate box last week, and I made honey butter chicken (see above; was supposed to be chili honey butter but I can't do spice) and a few other tasty meals, including Mediterranean pitas. This week I have Dinnerly, so far I have cooked a "Chinese takeout pepper steak" which was just okay ... it was more sweet than peppery, for some reason. Next week is Dinnerly as well.
  2. Doing takeout, although not too much. On Tuesday I was already out so I grabbed Detroit Wing Company for dinner - their happy hour deal (3-5pm, every day) is fantastic, they do 40% off boneless wings. Normally you can order online but for the HH deal you have to go in-person or call ahead. I have a $10 gift certificate for Saroki's Pizza in Royal Oak that is expiring on Sunday so I'm hoping to use it, but at the same time I was considering doing Bob Evans takeout on Sunday for Easter; I've been CRAVING ham, for some reason. I'm trying not to do takeout too much though because of possible germs.
  3. First infusion. On Saturday, I got myself up at the crack of dawn (7:30am, lol) for my 9am infusion appointment. My GI doctor is trying a new medicine, and I think so far it's working, which is good ... although, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, because at the beginning, they all work, to some extent. The infusion was 2 hours long but I brought my phone, iPad, and a book, so it wasn't too bad ... the only annoying part was when I needed to use the restroom, because they hook you up to a stand and you have to bring the entire thing with you.
  4. Target drive-up. I did this again this week, mostly for health/beauty stuff I needed (Tylenol, etc.) but I also threw in some SunChips and Target-brand peach gummies. I highly encourage you to CHECK YOUR BAG before you drive off with it, though, because this time they gave me someone else's order, so I almost drove off with a bag full of diapers and chocolate bark ... I alerted one of the store runners and they went back into the store and got my correct bag, luckily.
  5. Getting groceries at ALDI. I've been trying not to go out too much for groceries (again, germs), but I strapped on my homemade mask and went to ALDI yesterday for almond milk and a few other staples. They now have a "clicker person" at the front of the store, because I believe they can only have 20% capacity at any given moment, and there are Plexiglass partitions between you and the cashier; also, 90% of the people there were wearing masks, so I was in good company. I scheduled a Kroger drive-up appointment for next week, and they only had times for 1 week out; apparently the key is to go onto the app or website at midnight to find slots for the next week. That won't be until next Thursday but I definitely have enough groceries to last until then; for Kroger, I ordered a couple of random things like celery (to go with peanut butter, for snacks), raspberries, and dishwasher detergent, because ALDI didn't have the kind I usually use.
