The Friday Five, 12/13/19: 5 things I've been up to this week

I can tell that we are in the throes of December because my schedule is chock-packed—this week was pretty busy and next week I literally have no days to myself ... every single day I have something on my Google Calendar.

Lindsey Stirling in concert, Toledo

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Toledo mini road trip to see Lindsey Stirling. Lindsey Stirling is one of my favorite performers, so when I found out she was coming to Toledo this year, I shelled out like $100 per ticket to see her ... front of the auditorium (Stranahan) was like $100 and the back was $88 or so, so I figured why not have great seats? She put on a great concert per usual, although it was mostly Christmas songs and I would have rather seen her perform her new album, Artemis.
  2. Eating out, and trying new places. Last Friday, a friend and I went to BJ's Brewhouse before a movie. On Saturday, my boyfriend and I tried to go to Kengo Sushi, in Toledo, but it's a teeny place and there was a long wait, so we ended up at Spaghetti Warehouse, across the street, instead. On Monday, we went to Condado Tacos in Royal Oak before the screening of Jumanji: The Next Level (click here for my review), and tried out Pagos Ice Cream (rolled ice cream - see below for a pic), and on Wednesday night, we tried out La Shish in Dearborn; I had won a $50 gift card from Raising Little Princes. La Shish was delicious and they gave me some bread and garlic to-go, as well, so I'm currently on day two of bread and garlic for breakfast as I write this ...
On Tuesday, a friend and I went to Gus's Fried Chicken in Detroit, also; their fried chicken is always delicious.
  3. Seeing movies. Last Friday, a friend and I saw Honey Boy, which is loosely based on Shia LaBeouf's life, and which I liked a lot; I'd probably give it 3.5/5 stars. On Sunday, I saw Jojo Rabbit, at the Forum, and would give that one 3.5/5 stars as well. On Monday, I saw Jumanji: The Next Level at a screening, but unfortunately would only give it 2.5/5 stars (see above for my review). Last night I finally sat down to watch A Marriage Story on Netflix and I'd give that one 4/5 stars. I'm hoping to see Richard Jewell on Sunday if I have time, too.
  4. Attending an influencer event. On Saturday morning, I trekked to the Brighton Kroger to attend an influencer event. We learned how to make a cheese board and what wines pair best with it, and it was a fun time. Check out #eatertainingmadesimple for some Instagram pictures.
  5. Booking yet another Vegas trip, and downloading Wynn Slots. A friend I met on my Birthright trip last year wanted to do Vegas, and we both play the myVegas slot game (free to play, and you get rewards from it) ... we booked it for end of April and will be staying two comped nights at Vdara! We still need a hotel for that first night, though, which is a Saturday, and we both started playing Wynn Slots, in the hope of getting a comped room at the Wynn ... fingers crossed. I stayed at the Wynn in 2009 for my senior year spring break trip, in college, and it was fabulous. ("comped" still means we pay resort fees, but $100 for two nights at Vdara is a steal ...)
