The Friday Five, 11/8/19: 5 things I've been up to this week

Today is my Friday - I'm taking the day off to take a mini one-night trip to Holland, MI, as I had some Radisson points to use and there are a lot of restaurants I like in that area, like Giordano's (deep-dish pizza, nom) and the Southerner, in Saugatuck.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Canada day trips. On Saturday, some friends and I made the 3-hour drive to Stratford (Ontario), Canada, and we did a little shopping, had dinner, and saw Little Shop of Horrors at the Avon Theatre. I wasn't feeling well that day but I'm still glad I went, because the play was great. The next day, two friends and I went to Caesars Windsor to see Jim Gaffigan's comedy act—he's one of my favorite comedians—and we also had dinner at Spago, in the hotel, which was very tasty.
  2. Not seeing movies. I actually saw 0 movies this week, mostly because I have been sick :( last Friday and Saturday I was feeling pretty poorly (probably should have skipped Stratford, but we had been planning the trip since July) so even though we were going to see Black and Blue on Friday, we skipped it. I am seeing the new Terminator movie tomorrow though, actually in Portage, MI with my boyfriend and a friend, and we may see a movie tonight in Holland if we have some time, apparently AMC Holland is a 2-minute drive from our hotel.
  3. Yelp event. On Wednesday, Yelp Detroit hosted an event at City Barbecue, which is like a 5-minute drive from me, so I was super excited to be able to attend. I had a great group of people that I sat with, too, and the food was really good; the brisket, especially. They gave us a nice goody bag with a $10 gift card, too, so I will be back at some point—apparently if you download their app, you get a $5 credit to use, which is also a good deal.
  4. Doctor appointments. Monday I had an appointment with my rheumatologist, who wants me to try physical therapy for my back (it's been bothering me for a while now), and yesterday I had an appointment with my GI doctor, which is probably the last one with him, because he'll be switching me to UM Medical.
  5. Setting the clocks back. I never understood the point of Daylight Saving Time, except it's annoying to have to set EVERY.SINGLE.ONE of my clocks back or forward ... I know it has something to do with farmers or whatnot, back in ye olden days, but I wish nowadays we could forgo it. My digital ones are easy to reset but my oven and this super old alarm clock I have take a bit more time.
