The Friday Five, 1/5/18: 5 things I've been up to this week
As I write this, it is "-2, feels like -18 outside" where I live. I have to take out the garbage but haven't yet because of the cold temperatures. On Sunday, it will be back up to 30, but this week has definitely been long.
What I've been up to this week:
What I've been up to this week:
- Road trip to the west side of the state. On Saturday, my boyfriend and I drove to the Kalamazoo/Portage area to visit a college friend of mine and her husband - we enjoy playing board games with them, and we stayed over into New Year's Day. For New Year's Eve, we did cheese and chocolate fondue (see pic above) which was super tasty, too.
- Playing UNO & Friends. I like playing UNO and Monopoly Deal a lot, and I recently discovered an app where you can play UNO. However, I was playing it yesterday and a notification popped up that said it will be discontinued in June 2018 ... no explanation why! Definitely a bummer.
- Seeing movies. I saw Pitch Perfect 3 on Wednesday, with my MoviePass, and I'd give it 3 stars out of 5. Fans of the other two films will like it, and the singing is great, but it's definitely not as good as the other two in the series. I'm seeing Downsizing later today with my parents (their first time using MoviePass, actually!) and I plan on seeing I, Tonya and All the Money in the World this weekend with my boyfriend (who also has MoviePass).
- Attending a dinner party. A friend of mine hosted an Italian dinner party last Friday, and almost everything she made for it was made from scratch, which was amazing. We had an antipasto salad, a potato and sausage soup, three types of pastas, and cannoli for dessert. We also played a fun game of Pictionary afterwards.
- Using birthday freebies - hopefully. My birthday is January 13th and some of the freebie emails are starting to roll in. I have $3 to use at CVS that I'm hoping to use before it expires on 1/9, and I plan on using my $15 towards a meal at Kona Grill this Saturday after we see I, Tonya ... Kona does a great late-night happy hour, as well, and you can get certain sushi rolls for $5.
