I recently became aware of CanvasDiscount.com, and was pleased to work with them. With Mother's Day coming up, this is a great site for all sorts of gifts—although they're mostly known for their canvas prints, they also have blankets, pillows, and even photo towels from which to choose.
I tried to choose prints that my parents would want to have up on their wall. Since I grew up in the '80s and '90s, most of our old photos are unfortunately not digital, so I knew there would be a slight chance that when it translated to canvas, they would be a little blurry ... they were, but I actually kind of like it (it's a little artsy-looking).
CanvasDiscount.com was actually running a sale on the day I purchased my prints, so I was able to choose two pictures. This first picture above is my mom and I when I was younger, I think we were in the Cayman Islands on vacation.
The next picture is of my dad and I, when I was a baby, and it's one of my favorite photos. We were in Maine at the time—I was born and grew up in Massachusetts until I was five years old, so Maine was a fairly close drive from there.
As you can see above, the canvas frames are packed very carefully, too—when I received them on Thursday, it had been raining out, but the frames were nice and dry inside their packaging.
Ordering from CanvasDiscount.com was very easy—all I had to do was upload the photos. I already had both photos on Facebook—I believe I had scanned them in a while back—so I grabbed them from there. I chose to do 10"x12" prints for each.
The prints were supposed to arrive this Friday but instead arrived early, on Thursday, which I was pleased about. I'm seeing my parents tonight for an early Mother's Day / late birthday dinner for my mom, so I'm planning on giving them the canvas prints then.
Overall, I was very pleased with how the canvas prints came out, and I'm sure if I had used digital photographs it would have been even better, too.
As you can see in the picture above, you could also opt to do a photo blanket, or even a photo pillow (see below picture), instead of a canvas print, if that's more your style.
